Professor April A. Buck
Dr. Buck is an Assistant Professor of Human Development at Eckerd College. Professor Buck received her Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin and conducts research that focuses primarily on close, romantic relationships and how those relationships are maintained and change over time. Within this field, she is specifically interested in the impact of stress on relationships, including how and when stressors affect physiological health outcomes and hinder couples' efforts to engage in relationship-promoting behaviors. Most recently, she has begun to explore techniques that couple members may employ in order to become more resilient to the harmful effects of stress and is examining the role of leisure activities for this purpose. To address these issues, her research uses daily diary, observational, and longitudinal methodologies.
